The Sphinx Statue in Black and Gold

The great Sphinx of Egypt has the head of a human and the body of a Lion.
The Lion being the symbol of supreme power and guardian of the eastern and western gates of the underworld. The Sphinx represented the pharaoh and the earthly reincarnation of the god Atum. Some are believed to have been built approx. 2558 B.C. There were many Sphinx built in ancient Egypt.
